'Last Best West:Stories of the Canadian West' was the Budd's Centennial Project. The film uses a combination of documentary style narratives and music videos featuring original music written by the Budds to tell the story of the Canadian West. The film project's production on DVD was assisted by the Department of Canadian Heritage through the Alberta-Saskatchewan Centennial Initiative. The film was taken on tour as part of a live music show that toured the province in June and July.

Saskatchewan Couple Receives Film Awards

December 12, 2005

Dale and Laura Budd from Belbutte Saskatchewan received a wonderful Christmas present on December 12 when they returned home from working in Alberta to find two first place film awards from the Canadian International Annual Film Festival in their mailbox.

Because of their work in remote locations in Alberta's oilpatch, the Budds were unable to attend the Film Festival's Awards Ceremony which was held in Port Stanley, Ontario on September 23. At the time, the Budd's were unaware of the fact that their film: 'Last Best West: Stories of the Canadian West' had not only won 'Best Amateur Music Video' but also placed first above two Australian and American documentary films to win 'Best Amateur Film' of the festival.
